Sep 30, 2015 4:13 AM in response to patrittiby Russ H,I'm not sure about this and I don't currently have a way to test. If it can be opened, however, it can definitely be scaled to 1080.
If you have a short clip that you'd like tested, upload to Dropbox (or some other file sharing service) and post the download link. We will then be able to tell you.

thx pat
Short answer... no. Don't waste you time on it. FCPX and Motion 5 can do this.
This free app can do this, Mpeg StreamClip. It can do batch processing too!

Sep 30, 2015 8:54 AM in response to David M Brewerby Russ H,David, So Compressor will not open files with this format and Streamclip will? Interesting; I wouldn't have guessed that The only 4K XAVC I've tried is Canon's, which FCP X would open – but not either Compressor or Streamclip.
Thanks for the info.
Russ
edit: insert omitted X
