iPod Shuffle doesn't charge

I've bought three iPod Shuffles in the past 2 years and all three have ended up in the mud grave after I've thrown them off a cliff during a run. They all three would stop charging and turn off after 20 minutes. Are all shuffles designed to flaw out after a couple months? 3 out of 3 isn't a coincidence. What should I do to fix the one I have before it is reunited with his brothers off the cliff.
