Just happened to me again last night. I had done the same process as before, putting the phone into airplane mode at night turning the wifi back on, wake up and the phone was dead.. The two button reboot did the trick this time though, so that's good. But, I DID notice that the touchid button/home button was very warm, even though the phone had apparently not really been on. When I went to bed the phone had 68% power and once I got it working again (after nine hour overnight) it was down to 63%, which leads me to think that something isn't running furiously to take the phone down. I think there is probably some sort of overheating going on internally and the phone is going into a safety mode.?
I can't seem to find the feedback assistant app on the phone though, shouldn't this be something loaded when on installs the public beta software?
Yes the feedback assistant app should be loaded when it installs the public beta software, but recently, that sometimes doesn't happen. Just go to the beta profile page on your ios device, and re-install the beta profile, and it will re-install the feedback assistant app.
Same issue, was late to work. Guess I will use my Ipad for an alarm until they are able to fix the issue.

I've had this same issue, at least twice with my 6s plus, running 9.1 public beta.
Same here, alas. 128Gb 6s running 9.1 beta.
+1 Happened to me for the 1st time this afternoon.
iPhone 6s 64GB Space Gray
iOS 9.0.2
Phone was in the back pocket of my cycling jersey while on a ride. It was connected to my Garmin Edge cycling computer via BlueTooth and was running the Garmin Connect App LiveTrack function. Screen was off and the phone otherwise was idle.
Two button hard reset required to restart it.
Same issue, happened first day on iPhone 6S Plus 128G. Shut off middle of the night on it's own, full battery.
Just landed in New York, requested my uber and this **** 6S Plus died in the process of waiting for the pickup. This is now the 4th time it's died for no apparent reason and would not come back on until plugged up to power or a hard reset. I've had every iPhone iteration and never had an issue and thus far this one has issues.
It happened to me for the first time this morning. The phone turned black and none responding to noting. I did a power-home button reset to get the iPhone to working condition. Was in the Apple podcast app when it happened, pressed on pause when suddenly screen came black.
- iPhone 6 64G Gold champagne (preorder at launch date)
- Was updated to iOS 9.0.2 when it was available

IPhone 6s 64, updated ios 9.0.2. Powered itself down during the night while charging, home button hot. Hard reboot, power + home woke it up. Very troubling.
Same here. 64gb Space gray 1OS 9.01 (I've since upgraded to 9.02) Phone shut off in the middle of the night, thought battery was dead, plugged in to charge and home button was HOT. Hard reboot restarted it.
iPhone 6S direct from Apple running IOS 9.0 then 9.1 beta and had the problem twice. No specific reason for it going off and then only a hard reboot gets it back working again. Phone was a bit hot at the time but its been hot a few other times and not done it.
Make sure that you report the bugs through the support functions (Chat/call etc), and/or if possible report the issues with the feedback page www.apple.com/feedback
Apple don't monitor these threads so just putting it on here wont sort the issue. From the checks they have done they don't seem to think its a hardware issue. If enough people report it through the feedback they may actually investigate instead of telling people to reboot or restore their phones.
I had this problem two times and i am able to replicate it. I set the alarm with a song as sound. The song is from apple music, downloaded to the phone (offline available). The iPhone is in Airplane mode and as soon as the alarm should go off the phone dies and i have to restart it by holding the home button plus the stand by button for 10 seconds.
iPhone 6s 64gb silver
iOS 9.0.2
Unlocked from the Apple Store, using Deutsche Telekom
I didn't have this problem with 9.0.1
Very active thread at MacRumours Forums reporting similar and unfortunately increasingly frequent issue with iPhone 6s and various iterations of iOS 9, as well as a smattering of other previous versions of the iPhone (see here iPhone 6S turns off by itself *confirmed*). Is being reported actively to Apple. No feedback from Apple yet.

Happend to my friend too, he got a new one from the Apple Store, since he had Apple Protection Plan
