Oct 13, 2015 2:14 PM in response to Joachim Freyby dabluone,Too soon to call? It's days between crashes for me and it's random. Beta 5 just out so surely it needs a couple of days/week to know?
Apple asked me to reset settings this morning and I've not had a crash today, but I'm not confident that's a real fix. If it held for a week then maybe.
People have said beta 4 was the fix but on the developer forums some posts say different.

Oct 14, 2015 11:35 AM in response to MiniOhhby DanOsers,So, I wonder - how many of us have updated to beta 5 and seen a marked difference then? Just wonder if its too early to tell.
There is still something going on - even if iOS 9 is the 'issue and fix', there is no reason this should then only happen on a small subset of phones (clearly, it's a problem for a good amount of people; but we can also assume that the majority of the millions of users have not had the issue happen).
Why then is that the case? What are 'we doing' that is different than the majority that also has 9.0.x...?

Oct 15, 2015 9:17 AM in response to DanOsersby TheTomeWriter,Allright folks... I've been running the 9.1Beta4 and now Beta5 since Monday morning. Zero crashes!!! And I have had at least once a day since September 25. Thinking this is pretty conclusive. It was a software issue, and somethin in 9.1 fixes it. If you aren't or don't want to be in the beta program at least know that it's not your device and help is on the way.

Oct 15, 2015 5:18 PM in response to oooliveeeby sdmarcotte,New iPhone 6s user here and I just wanted to chime in. I've had my phone for 5 days, checked a message, put the phone in my pocket, pulled it out a minute later and it was unresponsive. I got the sense that the phone was still on but frozen and the home button was unusually warm. I forced restarted and everything came back up fine. I think my uptime was about 5 days. I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I believe my phone has the Samsung chip.
It looks like iOS 9.1 might address the issue. So I have my fingers crossed.

Oct 16, 2015 9:51 AM in response to oooliveeeby William Laughlin,I have another thread that was started around the same time as this but I will jump in on this and share my experiences here.
I have been keeping a log of all of the times that my phone has randomly turned off.
September 29, 2015 shutdown overnight plugged in, over slept because alarm didn't go off
October 5, 2015 shut down at 10:00 PM home button was hot
October 6, 2015 shut down at 6:30 AM
October 7, 2015 shut down 9:40 pm
October 8, 2015 shut down 4:45 pm
October 10, 2015 shut down overnight while I was asleep
October 10, 2015 12:00pm shut down
October 11, 2015 shut down overnight while I was asleep: iCloud Backup not completed
October 15, 2015 shut down overnight while asleep: had to re-enter Facebook credentials in Settings app
iCloud Backup not completed
October 15, 2015 shut down 8:00 pm
October 16, 2015 shut down overnight, over slept because alarm didn't go off.
Now, a couple of additional things to note:
When my phone shut off last night I happened to think to look at my Apple Watch and noticed that I did not have the red iPhone symbol with a line through it indicating that the watch wasn't connected to the phone. Which would make me think that it isn't really off , but I still couldn't do anything to bring it back up without holding down the sleep/wake and home button though.
On my drive to work this morning I got wondering if it was a difference in which A9 chip you received, Samsung or TSMC. In the thread that I started someone said they exchanged their phone and the had the TSMC and now have the Samsung and haven't seen the issue. That theory goes out the window because I have the Samsung A9 and am experiencing it.

Oct 17, 2015 7:53 AM in response to William Laughlinby Anthro,My 3 days old iphone 6s plus 128GB was dead today too. Didn't react to the home or power button. Pressing both for a while started it again.
I called the support and the guy said, if it happens again, I'll get a new phone. But it must not necessarily be a hardware problem. I'll wait and see!

Oct 17, 2015 9:20 AM in response to TheTomeWriterby stephenfromspokane,Zero crashes beta 5! Easy to install and it kept things like wifi password. It was t like starting fresh. The nightmare of daily crashes seems over. APPLE: Release 9.1.

Oct 18, 2015 12:40 AM in response to 4twinsby Minus64,I think the problem come from the last update ... iOS 9.0 and later, I never felt more friends with iPhone 5 have the same problem.
However I am still waiting for Apple to send me a new iPhone 6S.

Oct 18, 2015 11:11 AM in response to Minus64by buddhahat,I have this same issue.
Bought the iPhone 6s 16gb yesterday, on Vodaphone. Just picked it up today and it was out cold. A 10 second force restart got it going again. Hopefully this is a software bug that will be fixed.

Oct 18, 2015 12:02 PM in response to buddhahatby Anthro,I am 95% sure it is not a hardware issue.
I just installed iOS 9.1 beta 5 because of that.
Maybe you should try that too. ;-)
