why does the Apple spelling function on my desktop e-mail & iPhone text not adhere to what I want to send ? Even when it asks if I want to cancel offered spelling change, often gibberish is sent out. So why do I send in e-mail & iPhone send a message saying please excuse Mac spelling ?

Howdy Rand,

From what I can gather it seems like you're seeing some odd behavior from the automatic spelling correction features on your Mac and your iPhone. Methods for adjusting or disabling these features vary from one version of each operating system to another (for both Mac OS X and iOS).

I have a few questions to help us get started:

  1. What version of Mac OS X are you running on your Mac and what version of iOS on your iPhone?
  2. Would you rather disable automatic spelling correction entirely or change the feature’s settings?

Looking forward to helping you get this sorted!

Rand,

As there are quite a few different ways to go about managing and manipulating spell checking and automatic correction that may or may not fit the behavior that you're seeing it may be best to contact us directly via the link below. This way we can help build a better, more personally useful solution for you.
