Battery drains since ios9 upgrade - done tips and tricks but no change

Hi

On my iPhone 5s the battery seems to drain extremely quickly. For example if I went to bed with the bed at 80% it would be around 65% in the morning. This morning I woke up to a dead phone.

I have read all the tips and tricks that everyone seems to suggest but these were already set when I was on IOS 8. I have also disabled the new wifi assist feature but still no luck.

Surely if others are getting the same problem it is an issue with the new iOS?

Does anybody from Apple monitor these questions? Maybe they can at least tell us if there is an issue so we know a fix will be coming.

Thanks very much

iPhone 5s, iOS 9.0.1

Hi. Try to follow the instructions on this page in order to maximize your battery life:

http://osxdaily.com/2015/09/21/fix-ios-9-battery-life-problems/

https://www.apple.com/batteries/maximizing-performance/

Try to reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on the phone.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
  • Press and hold on the Home button
  • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

You may also try to reset all settings: go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

You may also try to follow these steps:

1. Navigate to settings/general/ battery usage. Check the applications. This will show you which app eats up your battery.

2. Turn off iCloud keychain: Navigate to Settings/ iCloud/Keychain / turn it off.

3. Limit apps activity on the background: Navigate to Settings/ general/ Background App refresh/ turn it off for each application which uses to much power.

4. Disable auto brightness: Navigate to settings/ display and brightness/ auto-brightness. Turn this option off.

all these tips and tricks are for iPhone6's

the issue is with the iPhone5.

iOS9 destroys the iPhone5 battery. it bleeds power.

the iPhone5 and the iPhone6 are not the same. stop giving us tips for the iPhone6.

iOS9 destroys the iPhone5, but Apple doesnt care. they just want us to buy an iPhone6. we're not supposed to have our phones this long.

Apple doesn't monitor these questions - we're all users here.

If you've tried all the tips and tricks with no success, here are some further suggestions:

  1. Reset network settings. Often, unexplained battery drain is caused by a rogue communications process. Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings. The phone will restart. You'll lose all your WiFi passwords, so make sure you have a not of them somewhere.
  2. If that doesn't work, or you've already tried it, I suggest a full Restore. That has solved similar issues for me in the past. If you follow the steps below, you'll get a clean system and retain your old data, including passwords and Health/Activity data. It's laborious and takes a while (don't try it in a rush), but safe.

Method for a clean restore

a. Connect to iTunes and do a full *encrypted* backup. You need encryption to keep passwords and Health/Activity data. You need an iTunes backup (as opposed to iClid) to make sure you have the backup files available when you need them

b. Restore the phone *as a new phone* (not from the backup

c. When the Restore is complete, in iTunes, do File, Device, Restore from Backup and choose the backup you made at a. above. This will restore all your personal data back to the phone

Hope that helps
