Sep 30, 2015 8:45 AM in response to David Farahby JimmyCMPIT,I read 1:00 PM EST: That estimate was NOT from Apple.
Conversely you could close your eyes and tap your ruby slippers 3 times and say "There's no place like Cupertino!" but I think security will detain you unless you show valid ID in the event you wind up at the front gates of One Infinite Loop.

Sep 30, 2015 9:06 AM in response to David Farahby JimmyCMPIT,it's 12:03 NYC time so I can get a sammich and come back to work and see if 1:00 is really really, but if it is that server is going to be slammed with traffic at 1:00 I'll wait until after the smoke clears which may be a few days or weeks. Plus I get to see what broke on these forums! Hindsight is 20/20 but my backups are up-to-date either way.

Sep 30, 2015 9:18 AM in response to JimmyCMPITby woodmeister50,What may likely happen is the first hour or two may be cool but then
download requests will accelerate exponentially after that and return to reasonable
download times in a couple days.
What may happen as a predecessor is an El Capitan site will pop up in the
OSX discussions (or may be simultaneous).

Sep 30, 2015 9:23 AM in response to woodmeister50by leroydouglas,It seems to me typically new releases are always at 10:00AM Cupertino time- and with that, realistically not all switches get flipped untiil 10:10 or 10:15.
Patience is a virtue.
