Export as PDF in Apple Mail

How can I Export as PDF in Apple Mail and save the subject names or file names (email titles).

This was very easy in Mavericks, but Yosemite saves the mail as 2.pdf 3.pdf etc.. I need the subjects.

emac, iBook, iMac, Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Hello there, Coventry.

It sounds like you're trying to export your emails as PDFs from the Mail app in Yosemite. The following link to the online Mail Help Menu reviews the process:

Save messages as files or PDFs - Mail Help

Save messages as files or PDFs

You can save messages as files to use in other apps, as PDFs, or in mbox format (for importing into Mail or most other email apps).

  • Save messages as files: Select one or more messages or conversations, then choose File > Save As.

Rich Text Format retains formatting (such as bold and italics), but Plain Text does not. Raw Message Source saves messages in mbox format; the header is visible and an encoded version of attachments is retained.

  • Save messages as PDFs: Select one or more messages, then choose File > Export as PDF.

  • Save a single message in mbox format: Drag the message to your desktop. To reopen the message in Mail, double-click the file.

If you are seeing numbering, it would seem to indicate that you've previously saved an email as pdf with the same Subject and therefore it is adding one in sequence so as not to overwrite the previous pdf.

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Cheers.

Thanks for the fast response. I know how to choose Export as PDF, but when I do it in OS 10.10 I only get the 2.pdf ,for example, not the title of the email(subject). I am choosing more than 1 email. The emails have not been previously saved as a pdf. In Mavericks, I could choose any number of emails and Export as PDF. The titles or email subject lines were copied, not just a number. Maybe I didn't make myself clear, sorry.
