OS 2 download issues

I started my apple watch update yesterday - My watch still says I have 21 hours remaining on my download and whenever my iPhone goes to sleep it pauses my download saying I need to connect to WiFi. It won't start back up until I close out of the apple watch app and then open the app back up.

My phone is connected to WiFi when this happens, I have data speeds of 500mps, - I've tried power cycling my phone and I'm still running into the issue - Anyone else running into this?

Using iPhone 6 / Apple Watch 32mm

Any workarounds?

Apple Watch, watchOS 2

Hi - try this:

On your iPhone, close the Apple Watch app along with all other open apps (double-press on the Home button, swipe up on the previews).

Restart both devices, turning both off and then restarting your iPhone first.

- To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag the slider to turn off.

- To turn your watch back on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

Then try updating again.
