iOS 9 displaying incorrect "minutes ago" when texts/imsgs come in. Help!!!

iOS 9 iPhone 6s displaying incorrect "minutes ago" when texts/imsgs come in. For example, I'll receiver a text at 10:45 am, check my phone at 10:55 am (10 minutes later), and the locked home screen will display "2 mins ago". Is this happening to anyone else or does anyone know how to fix it? It's a minor glitch but it bugs me :/

Hi afajardo,

If you are having issues with the time on your iPhone, try the steps in the resource below, and check with your carrier to see if there are any updates needed from their end. If neither of these options work, you may want to reset all settings on the iPhone.

iOS: Troubleshooting issues with date and time - Apple Support

Follow these steps. Test after each step to see if the issue is resolved.

  1. Ensure that the version of iOS on your device is up to date.
  2. If the option to enable date and time automatically is available, turn it on. Tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
  3. Ensure that your time zone is set up correctly. Tap Settings > General > Date & Time > Time Zone.

If the incorrect date, time, or time zone is being set up automatically on the device, please notify your cellular provider. In the meantime, tap General > Date & Time and turn off Set Automatically. Then set the appropriate time and time zone manually.

Note: The option to set automatically might not be available on all carriers in all countries.

Note: If you find that your device's time is incorrect after you sync with your computer, your computer's time may be incorrect. Verify the computer's time in System Preferences > Date & Time (you may want to select the checkbox to set the computer's date and time automatically).

I'm having the same problem as afajardo. It's not that the time is set incorrectly on the device. It's that the time calculated for "X minutes ago" for notifications on the lock screen is sometimes calculated incorrectly. For example, at 2:52, my lockscreen said that an email notification had been received "4 minutes ago". The email had in fact been received at 2:44, or eight minutes prior to then. The time on my lockscreen correctly said 2:52. I have also noticed this with some messages in Messages.

I first noticed this when I upgraded to iOS 9. On iOS 9.0.1 (13A404) now and the problem remains. iPhone 6, 64 gb, Verizon.
