Q: air drop image from iPhone to iMac

Where do I look on iMac for image that supposedly was air dropped from iPhone?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

You should be able to find a photo that was Airdropped from your phone to your iMac in your Downloads folder according to this article:

Use AirDrop to send content from your Mac

On a Mac, the item is saved to the Downloads folder.

Thanks. The reason I couldn't locate Airdropped image was it was given a file name that I didn't recognize.
If I want to move a large number of images to my iMac from iPhone, can I accomplish that with USB cable?
Does iMac recognize iPhone as external drive? My monthly data is limited by the fact that I get internet connection with Verizon jetpack.
Thus any transfer of data back and forth to iCloud storage would put my data allowance in a deficit.

You're welcome! You can indeed sync images to your phone from the computer using iTunes, and this article will help you do that:

Thanks for info on the sync photos through iTunes. Now Apple wants to upgrade to El Capitan. I assume it will take up 2 G of data.
If I have latest Yosemite, is that your understanding?

When I downloaded El Capitan it was ~6 GB to download on Yosemite.
