Audio Output issues

I have connected a Sony HVR-M15U desktop player/recorder to my MacPro and I am trying to now Log & Capture in Final Cut Studio 5.1. We can see a picture and the clip settings show that there is audio coming through the Firewire, but we can't hear anything.

In the Audio Video settings, I cannot choose "Firewire" as an output option because it is greyed out. But "Default," "Built-In Output," "Built-In Line" and "Digital" don't work either. No sound. And the computer's not muted or anything like that...

What setting should I use to get the audio to play through my computer's speakers?

MacPro, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

From Apple: "If you prefer to listen to the incoming audio signal through your computer speakers, click the Clip Settings tab in the Log and Capture window and select the Preview checkbox to enable it. This option sends the incoming audio signal to the audio output specified in the Output section of the Sound pane in System Preferences."

If you can't do this you are going to have settle for using your camera or deck to hear the audio. (In your case, deck)
