unable to add yahoo/google mail accounts

since upgrading to El Capitan I'm unable to add any yahoo or google account ...

when trying to add an account (gmail or yahoo) into mail an error message pops up stating:

Connection Insecure

Failed to verify the server certificate. This could be because of your network configuration or your proxy settings.

when trying to access the accounts via web browser all goes ok, so there’s no network/internet connection or proxy issues. In fact, I'm using no proxy whatsoever.

The error is the same if trying to add the accounts using mail or the internet accounts system preference ... I imagine is something related to OAuth since for any of these two providers that is the authentication method used to configure them

any help would be greatly appreciated

Been battling with this for quite some time. Removing all certificates didi not help, neither did removing the entire keychain.

It was AdGuard, even though it wasn't showing as a blocked page or anything - disabling AdGuard allowed me to add the account and it still works after re enabling.

I have the same, I don't have keychain, but I checked it anyway and no verisign (whatever that is).

I waited before updating to el capitan as I had problems when I updated my mac book with it - i presumed any problems would have been resolved by now 😟

I was having that issue as well, I went ahead and checked my Keychain Access for any non verified certificates but all of them were valid.
What fixed it for me was disabling my Avast Shield, as soon as I disabled it, I was able to add the account and get rid of that pesky little reminder.

I'm up and running now!

Yes, it seems AVAST is the culprit to keep many of us from being able to connect yahoo mail in Mac.

If you have AVAST:

1. Open AVAST

2. On left-hand side, scroll down to PREFERENCES and click on it.

3. Another box will open up, look to the right and you will see three choices, click to disable Web Shield.

4. Click the 'X' to close the window.

5. Open Internet Accounts and begin set up for your selected account.

The issue on my side was indeed the VeriSign certificate. But In my case it wasn't showing any red marks until i went through all certificate one by one.

Here is the certificate that I've removed and it fixed the issue for me:

I had the same issue - I over-rode the system defaults and marked the certificate as always trust, and was able to add the goose account. Was the version class 3 Public Primary Certificatio Authority G5 key that messed with me. Occurred after I changed my google password.
