Sep 30, 2015 7:05 PM in response to welshcousinby Grant Bennet-Alder,The password in question is the password for your Wi-Fi Network, not your Userid, and not your Apple-ID.
You can discover what is saved in your keychain by using keychain access.app and asking it to reveal the stored password (if there is one).
Do you have other devices that do connect correctly?
Are you sure you are close enough to the Router to get a good signal?

Oct 1, 2015 4:01 PM in response to Grant Bennet-Alderby welshcousin,I am using the password for my Wi-Fi Network and I know it's correct. My Kindle Fire connects without problem. I've had intermittent problems recently with the MacBook which I've solved by turning it off and on again until it connects. I downloaded Yosemite on Wednesday and since then it won't connect at all.

Oct 2, 2015 7:46 AM in response to welshcousinby Grant Bennet-Alder,There are several situations (connecting to email comes immediately to mind) where 'Not Connecting" is assumed by the Mac to be 'due to Bad Password'.
To test this, get closer to Your Router and see if you can connect under ideal conditions. Then you can debug further.

Oct 2, 2015 4:53 PM in response to Grant Bennet-Alderby welshcousin,It would not be possible to get closer to my router unless I put the MacBook on top of it - they are only 4 inches apart. It's nothing to do with email. The MacBook won't connect wirelessly to the internet, although it did so before I downloaded Yosemite.

Oct 2, 2015 5:02 PM in response to welshcousinby CMCSK,First contact your ISP. You need to confirm that the issue is not on their end.
Change your router channel. Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router. Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.
System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
Unlock the padlock
Locations: Automatic
Highlight Airport
Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock. Highlight Airport. Network Name-select your name. Click on the Advanced button. Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined." Click the OK button and lock the padlock. Restart your computer.

No internet connection (wireless)
Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).
Delete all extra entries that you find.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."

Oct 3, 2015 2:03 PM in response to Grant Bennet-Alderby welshcousin,Thanks for all suggestions. I now appear to have solved the problem by turning the MacBook and router off, waiting for 1 minute, then turning first the MacBook then the router back on. The MacBook accepted the wifi password this time.
