The volume up and down buttons on my bluetooth keyboard stopped working after I upgraded my 2013 iMac to El Capitan. Please fix.

Happy to help, but first we’d need to know just a bit more information about your situation:
1. Can you share the kind or brand of keyboard that you are having issues with (Apple, 3rd party)?
2. If possible, can you test the keyboard with a different computer and see if the volume keys still don’t work?
3. If possible, can you test a different Bluetooth keyboard with your iMac and see if the volume keys are working?
If you can report back on the outcome of these tasks above, we can go from there!

Hi, if I may chip in. I have this keyboard; http://www.amazon.co.uk/Saitek-Cyborg-V5-Keyboard-PC/dp/B002MZZQKA/ref=pd_sim_sb s_63_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=06SGPH2D5DMZ0ZMBZXDD&dpID=51FGwckrR6L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC _UL160_SR160%2C160_
And an identical issue, the volume keys worked fine until the second I upgraded to El Cap.
Same problem for me with original Apple keyb. and iMac 27" 2011
1. I am using an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard with an Apple iMac (2013)
2. I do not own another Apple computer on which to test the keyboard.
3. I do not own another Bluetooth keyboard.
The problem is not my keyboard, it is El Capitan. This is obvious considering that the strange keyboard behavior began a few minutes after I installed El Capitan!
unplugged and plugged keyboard again. now it works but I can't see volume on screen
I also have this issue. Answer for Brenden Dv’s question
1.) I used Apple wireless keyboard which manufacture in 2009, and I used Macbook Air with OS X EL Capitan
2.) The keyboard can work properly with other OS X Yosemite computer
3.) My friend’s wireless keyboard, which bought in 2014, can work properly with my computer
In addition, this wireless keyboard which is not working with OS X EL Capitan. How can I set back as factory-fresh state, I wanna repair as a new one to test whether work or not
Hi All,
I found a solution which is worked for me, FYI
I google "apple bluetooth keyboard factory-fresh state" and find the way to reset the keyboard
Holding down the power button at least 3 sec
Keep held down the power button through the entire pair process
Hi Everyone
I found the solution to the problem, instead pressing fn+F11 try just using f11 for volume down. It work.
So here the link to setting to set it back to what it was befoer
+1. Volume keys on external keyboard were fine but no longer function after upgrading to El Capitan. Tested on a different computer, the keyboard is working correctly.
Macbook Air Mid 2013
OSX 10.11.1
Saitek Eclipse keyboard (USB)
Same issue I an afraid.Macbook Pro and keyboard bought Aug 2014. 😟
Problem solved. Noticed that Capitan had lost the DAC defaults. Reset in Audio Midi Set Up and volume control came back. Oh Well, easy when you know how!
I have the same keyboard and same issue as Plastonick. I use my Saitek keyboard (not bluetooth) for gaming and the volume buttons stopped working when I upgraded.
Saitek Eclipse Keyboard: Same problem here with 10.11
Also have a Saitek keyboard that worked fine under Yosemite but after upgrading to 10.11 the volume buttons (not functions keys but dedicated volume control buttons) no longer work.
How do you do this... I have same problem. What is "Capitan had lost the DAC defaults. Reset in Audio Midi Set Up and volume control came back."?
Thanks.
Ashlyn
Hmmm... searched for "audio midi setup" and opened it... then clicked some things... kept it all the same, but then it started working again. Strange, but it worked. Thanks.
