My Ipod nano 5th gen has a problem.

My Ipod nano 5th gen has a dark black screen with a dark apple logo on it at all times. When I try to turn it on or off it does nothing. When I try charging the Ipod it does nothing. When I try resting it the apple logo goes away for a few seconds and then comes back to the same dark form what do I do?
