no iPhoto in Canada?

Newish MacBook Pro , Yoesemite, V 10.10.5. Just did an auto update of a few thins and now iPhoto is not accessible. Trying to update it led to a message saying it's not available in Canada.

I've seen some other mentions about workarounds by removing iPhoto and trying to reinstall, but iPhoto is not even available in my App Store if I wanted to re install.

So... what gives, and what is a functional workaround or alternative? This seems silly that suddenly a fairly major app doesn't work for the entire country?
