My 2010 Mac mini spits out discs....

Hi all,

Today I attempted to watch a DVD on my Mac mini and when I put it in, it struggled to load it and then spit it out. I tried another DVD and it

did the same thing.

Is this fixable, and if so how? My Applecare expired, btw.

Also, if it's not fixable, would this issue effect the rest of the Mini in anyway? or is the DVD player completely separate from the logic board, etc..?

Thanks

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

- Try resetting the SMC and NVRAM/PRAM

Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

About NVRAM and PRAM

- Try using a cleaning disk in the drive

- It is likely that the optical drive died. The one in my 2009 Mini died wioth same symptoms over three years ago.

If that is the case just gt an external optical drive. Get one that has it own power supply, not one that uses power from the USB bus.

That is what I did
