Q: My Mac stopped importing photos after moved to Yosemite
Hello all,
When I upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite on my 2011 Mac PowerBook Pro in December 2014 the computer stopped being able to import any photos from my recently purchased Nikon DS5300--not just raw or whatnot, but even average-resolution jpegs. I would plug in the cord from camera to computer and the computer desktop would remain blank, with no acknowledgement of the connection. Before that the operation always worked just fine. Since the importing stopped working I've been gradually filling up my camera's memory card without exporting, but now I've gotten to the point where it is about full, and I'd like to avoid eternally filling up memory cards without exporting the pictures. I got a new MBP in July 2015 and have the newest version of the Mac OS (10.10.5), but still cannot transfer photos. I checked my Applications folder and it seems like the Nikon software is still intact. I've checked online and looked for update downloads from Nikon or Apple but have turned up nothing relevant as yet. I have Mac Photos now, of course, but I also retained iPhotos, upon the advice of Apple employees, so as to be able to update the many existing photos in my Mavericks photo albums; but neither iPhotos and Photos will allow me to import. I am still able to see all the photos that I had imported into my various albums before Dec. 2014. I can import iPhone photos without trouble. Is there some sort of solution for this predicament of not being able to import from my Nikon DS5300? Thanks for any advice.
Mac Pro, iOS 9.0.2
