Here we go - EVERY ONE CRYING NOW - I want the C2D macbook =)

Its so funny when u see people crying that they didn't wait long enough for the new C2D MacBook.

If you buy a Ford Mustang - 450Hp and your friend gets one with 490Hp - do u really think that you'd be able to tell the difference in real world? Even on a race track - its the driver that makes all the difference.

How you use your macbook is esential. People wont be able to tell the difference between CoreDuo and Core2Duo. Most of us never utilize the full capabilities of our macbooks - so why cry for the new one?

It only looks better on paper.

It has the Dual Layer DVD burner - but I wont dish out 9 times the cost of regular DVD for a Dual Layer DVD - that is only double the storage capacity. 75cents for DVD-R - 6.99 for a Dual Layer DVD. I'll just wait for Mac with Blue-Ray - now that's worth it.

Finally - who's to say the new Mac's wont be plagued with different kinds of problems. If you look at the MacBook Pro forum, you will see that the new C2D Pro's have inferior Displays - people are complaining about the uneven brighness - some still have problems with heat and warping - people are complaining about all sorts of things with the new Macs

SO DONT WORRY AND BE HAPPY - if you MacBook WORKS WELL - THANK G O D - =)

Agree,..

As I said on previous post,..

It is the Rider not the ride that matter...

I love the new upgrade for HD space, memory shipped (1Gb now), and the optical drive (hope that solved the compatibility problem for picky drive before).

So new buyer can use the extra money to spend elsewhere.

But for the processor upgrade I 'm not too impressed with. I might buy if I need it but I'll wait until it bundled with 10.5 and iLife '07 next year for I don't want to shell out another $200 for it next year (might get the faster Macbook as well).

Peace Out.

Honestly yes i have to say that i am a little jealous and feel a little short changed on this, however, i agree with the fact that in the day to day people are NOT going to notice any difference. With the old core duo processors you're pulling at the very least the equivalent of dual 3.2ghz Pentium 4 processors (this going from a pentium M 1.86 running like a 3.2). The one nice thing is the upgrade with the hard drives, that i have to admit, and also the RAM is the thing that bothers me because if i had not used a student discount, it would have cost me $100 more for what they're offering standard.

I still love the macbook i have, maybe now though i can find it cheaper to buy 2gb to stick in. If people keep their laptops maintained, a new computer can last and serve its duty for 2 years or even more. Games wise no the macbook is always going to be bottom of the barrel, especially until things come out with universal binaries.

Actually - the new Black MacBook has larger HD 120GB - 1GB RAM - and 6x DL-DVD burner.
I'm afraid that Apple will try to cut corners somewhere - either slower or cheaper HD - or - cheaper display. For the sake of new buyers I hope it's the HD.

The Video remains same - subpar intel. So I'm not worried. Had they upgraded the Video Card - I'd be upset =)

And then we can get upset when the Santa Rosa logic boards come out in six months, and that's where the Merom Core 2 Duo's will really shine---not so much now except in benchmarks maybe. And, sometime in 2008 the new 45 nm die Penryn is scheduled to come---and that has a larger FSB and cache and more memory for notebooks (if I remember correctly from what I was reading yesterday).

The point is, there is always something we think is faster, brighter, better in some way---having the latest and greatest is a losing proposition, you can only say it for a short time, and then only once or twice anyway to any one person.

Personally, I'm glad Apple stays on top of the technology and updates the computer lines as often as they do. I love my "old" version MacBooks and MacBook Pro. For many tasks, the response is instant---how much faster than instant can you get?

I'm happy that they actually try so hard to not only be on the newest edge of technology, but also configure their computers and products to just work, period.

To tell the truth i started out with a mac mini 1.42ghz, 512mb ram and it ran wonderfully, which in all reality ran just as fast as the macbook that i'm using right now in day to day things (obviously when i'm ripping a dvd or anything of that nature there is a difference). I know people that are using even slower computers but are still using theirs and STILL getting instant or near instant speed.

It's kind of a thing where people want the best and the fastest, even though the old, cheaper things still run perfectly. Look at the required specifications for a lot of programs, i think most of them are still around 500mhz correct? I may be wrong of course.

Absolutely! However, that's somewhat the rationalization of the more expensive older brother (MBpro). Imagine the outcry from the MBpro owners if the MB came with a dedicated 64mb / optional 128mb?

I know that I jumped all over the MBpro for mobile gaming purposes on a Mac platform. The MB couldn't allow me to play the games I wanted to (in terms of performance). I also know that several people I work with also went with the MBpro after seeing it perform with above average results on frame rate intensive games. If suddenly a significantly cheaper model could perform just as good, they'd flip and rightly so!

nope. your right. they usually want 500MHz and 256mb of ram. i started out using macs 10 years ago with a preforma 6400/180 had some issues with ma and pa got mad at it and they went with a emachines in '01 however we still had problems 3 months later. 3 years ago i started making movies on my youth leaders ibook g4 and it all came back on why i like macs, they work, and its idiot proof, almost. but then this past christmas i got my imac g5 after wanted a powerbook 15" 1gb of ram and 160GB hard drive but the an apple guy talked my folks into a g5 imac w/ isight and by george i love it for its small foot print and speed of ripping movies. about the same time it takes to watch em there done if not less!
