Q: Extensions/Share options disappeared

Hello everyone!  Last night, I upgraded my Mid-2011 iMac up El Capitan.  Today, I noticed that whenever I click my "Share" button/menu it said "No Service."  I checked my System Preferences > Extensions, and it is completely blank.  Even the Apple extensions are gone.  I know I had several 3rd-party extensions installed under Yosemite.  Where did all of them go?  I also checked my Internet Accounts and whenever I click the checkmark box for "Share" on my Twitter account, for example, the checkbox stays selected for about 3 seconds, and then it automatically unchecked itself.  Help!

Thank you in advance for any advice!

I had the same problem. After rebooting my mac, other options (Actions/Share Menu/Today) re-appeared again.

On my Mid 2011 iMac, I have a similar problem. After I toggle the share button to 'on' for Vimeo and LinkedIN, it stays on for few seconds then toggles itself 'off'. I have rebooted three times so far - no changes in the behaviors. I don't have this problem with a Mid 2009 Macbook Pro.

I remembered that I had done following actions before rebooting (5k iMac late 2014):

    • Run "First Aid" on Macintosh HD in DIsk Utility
    • Enable Dashboard in System Preferences / Mission Control
    • Toggle Location Services boxes in System Preferences / Security and Privacy / Privacy

I don't know if they had any effects or not. Just for information.

To all on this thread, who would have thought that those disappearing widgets after upgrading would come back after a reboot. Well I hope this is the answer for most, but I took that simple suggestion and it worked immediately. I had not rebooted since the upgrade yesterday!
