Q: ios9 icloud backups missing information

restored my new 6s plus from my 6 plus backup on 9.01 and everything transferred fine.    backed up my 6s plus on 9.01 and did a complete software restore to 9.02.  loaded the back up and the text and imessages do not display.  also all my app that were "signed in" to services   facebook ect now required me to re-sign in.    This has never happened before.

Anyone else experience this ,  does anyone have a fix?

    @mianesva

    Yes, exactly.  Mine shows 38MB...

Related to my earlier 25MB size for health on a restore that breaks messages.... Setting up phone as new indicates health data only uses about 530k... and by the way, it works as I just took a little walk around the house and now I see the new data getting there...

This means the data is getting restored.... but it is not getting unlocked/unencrypted or something for the app to use....  the health app seems to then be locked up not knowing what to do....

Regarding SMS.... likely a new data set is created for the app to function.... it may be that at that time the previous data is gone.... not sure.

I'm having the same exact issue. I should have kept my iPhone instead of swapping it.

I went from a 5s to a 6s and everything went great. Now from the 6s to a 6s Plus and… Well, you already know all of the problems. I tried restoring several times from several backups from the 6s and nothing. Now, the backup from the 5s (done with iOS 9.1 beta 4 or maybe 5) seems to partially solve the issue, since messages and health data are there, but some apps still have weird issues. Since that backup is old anyways, I've given up and started fresh, as a new iPhone. Terrible experience from Apple.

So are you guys getting stuck on the White screen with black apple logo? I restore and update my phone to 9.1 and then restore from my icloud backup (ios 9.0), the first progress bar completes, but when it gets to the white screen with black apple logo, it progresses about 35% and stops moving. Should I wait or what is the plan of action I should take? It seems like my phone does not want accept the icloud backup and unfortunately I did not make an itunes backup

My experience was that the white screen with black Apple logo would just hang there. I never got a progress bar. I would do a power cycle i.e. home button and power button, and the phone would start.

I'm clueless as to what I should do. I've contacted support and everything and it seems after update 9.0.1 onwards my icloud backups do not want to work. I wish I could just downgrade to 9.0 as I never had an issue. Has anyone ever come across a time where an apple support expert would be able to downgrade your phone even if the update is not signed by apple anymore?

Has anyone heard back from Apple yet?

I haven't. I'm considering sending an email to  guy I spoke to last Sunday. I'm not quite sure he's able to do a whole lot about it though. I'm becoming pretty disillusioned with all this.

I Asked for escalation to engineering. The next steps involved placing my account in troubleshooting mode and changing my pw so engineering could debug this. Essentially it gave access to all my data.... I decided not to go through with it in the end.....  Not sure if others have ventured into that process.

I'm in the same boat as everyone but have been dealing with Apple regarding this issue since the new iOS was released and I tried to update my iPad but the backups for it were missing.

When my case was escalated to a "supervisor," I was told after about two weeks that the iCloud has recently been relocated to new servers and not all of my data transferred. Apple sees the backup on their end; however, it never shows up on any of my accounts. I've sent them screenshots to confirm.

I've been in troubleshooting mode now for three weeks waiting for an engineer to look at the issue. I was told two weeks ago that they finally started looking into the issue. It is now two months that my iPad has been useless and I've still heard nothing. The "supervisor" that I've been dealing with assured me that this is unacceptable and I'd be receiving daily updates. I have not been receiving any updates.

I am ready to cut my losses and start over with my iPad from new. It is completely ridiculous for Apple to expect me to give them access to my account for more than three weeks. I will update if/when the issue is resolved so that hopefully others won't have to go through what I've been dealing with.

I've definitely lost my brand loyalty to Apple with everything I've been through with this nonsense.

I came here hoping for a solution but since there doesn't seem to be one, I'll just add to the already existing woes. Same issue. Tried to restore from iCloud backup made with my 6s+ on 9.0.1 and halfway through the restore process, it just freezes on the Apple logo screen. After a hard reset it goes to the welcome screen, says restore is complete, goes to the home screen but messages are missing, some apps are missing and some apps have messed up app data.

iTunes backups work fine, as do backups made prior to iOS 9 on my 6+

it would have been nice if Apple announced this  as a known issue and instructed us all to use iTunes before anyone else lost weeks worth of data. But it seems that level of customer care and attention to detail is slowly eroding away with this company.

I spoke to a guy in mid-October and he said he'd follow up. He hadn't in a week and I emailed on Oct 26. No response.

Tried to upgrade to 9.1, iPad 'froze' so took it to Apple Store, Belfast, who upgraded and basically took iPad back to factory settings .... but ... having been told that my docs, on iCloud, would download after restoring apps .... Nothing ... Any help?

    Same issue here...

Went from a 6s Plus on ios 9.1 to a 6s on ios 9.1. Backup was successful and so was the restore.. although I did get stuck on the white screen with the black apple logo but a force restart worked.

    Missing information:

    Messages

    Call History

    Keyboard - Text Replacement

Some apps I had to reinstall because they will open and close right away

    Activity data =(

The Activity data is very upsetting. I have an apple watch - unpaired it and backed up using iCloud. All my activity data since i first got the watch is now missing after doing the restore.

Restoring my phone to an old backup does not help either with the activity data. I left the latest backup on my phone and watch hoping apple fixes this soon!

Since I assume no one has had any updates to this issue, has anyone considered reaching out to Tim Cook via email? I've heard he sometimes reads and responds to emails and it's clear that this is a big problem, one that will affect whether someone like me can recommend certain Apple services like iCloud.
