Q: ricoh c3003

Hi all,

The Ricoh MP C3003 printer doesn't print correctly after upgrade to El Capitan. Under Yosemite I used the Gutenprint driver (b/w print only, but it's more than nothing). Gutenprint drivers doesn't work under El Capitan (yet?). Native driver taken from Ricoh's website, from Apple's support site and also from El Capitan doesn't working correctly. I connect to my printer via direct IP address (IPP protocol). Mac see it, obtains the printer info, automatically selects the software and creating the printer. But when I trying to print something I get the clear paper sheets with unread symbols on first line of each page. By the way, I get many paper sheets when I send the 1-page pdf file. Could anybody knows where I'm wrong?

Thanks.

    Hello SShavrov,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

If you're unable to print to your Ricoh MP 3003 series printer, regardless of the driver you are using, then I suggest going through the steps below.

If you have some other printing issue

These steps may resolve printing issues that have no other clear cause:

    1. Open the Printers & Scanners pane of System Preferences, then select your printer and click the minus sign (-) to remove the printer from the list.
    2. Follow the steps in the previous section to add your printer.
    3. If the issue persists, reset the printing system, then follow the steps in the previous section once more.

If the issue remains unresolved, take these final steps to move aside any currently installed printer drivers:

    1. Reset the printing system again.
    2. Rename the folder at /Library/Printers:

      • From the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder. Then type /Library and click Go.
      •
      • Click once on the Printer folder to select it, then press Return to begin renaming the folder. Type Printers-old, then press Return to save the new name.
    3. Follow the steps in the previous section once more.

    Take care.

    Hello Alex_h1,

Thanks for your response. I tried the steps you suggested but not successful. I reset the printing system and renamed the /Library/Printers folder. There was printer updated software downloaded from Apple when I added/created new printer. But I got the same result - when I sending the 2-page PDF file to the printer, it prints 200+ pages with unreadable 'words' at the first line... It looks like the printer (or driver) doesn't support some protocols/languages such as Post Script 3 or something like that. I was faced with the same problem using Yosemite, but that time I resolved the problem by installing Gutenprint driver package. At this time no Gutenprint driver available for El Capitan (I hope yet!).

If anybody knows how I can resolve the issue with standard driver please respond.

    Thanks to all.

There is a Generic PCL driver included with El Capitan.

Note the Generic PCL driver only prints in B&W and by default is set to 300dpi. You can change the print resolution to 600dpi via the print dialog menus.

I'm guessing their isn't a driver for this printer that allows you to print not only in B/W but in color as well? I'm looking for the driver that allows the full capabilities of the printer and not just printing in B/W. Has anyone found that specific driver yet?
