ios 9 update battery drain problem

First, don't respond with general battery life advice! After upgrade to ios 9 then 9.01, the battery life on my iphone 5s has been reduced dramatically.

This is not a settings issue as I verified all my previous settings are the same as before the update. All location services and background app refreshes are off and were off prior to the update.

There is clearly a problem with the ios using more resources. All the responses I have seen regarding this issue give the same general advice for conserving battery life. This is not a "settings" issue - update resulted in maybe 50-60% of the previous battery life.

Any fixes in the works?

Try to update to 9.0.2 version.

Try to follow the instructions on this page in order to maximize your battery life:

http://osxdaily.com/2015/09/21/fix-ios-9-battery-life-problems/

https://www.apple.com/batteries/maximizing-performance/

http://www.idigitaltimes.com/ios-82-battery-life-problems-how-fix-quick-drain-is sues-iphone-ipad-and-ipod-422229

Try to reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on the phone.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
  • Press and hold on the Home button
  • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

You may also try to reset all settings: go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

You may also try to follow these steps:

1. Navigate to settings/general/ battery usage. Check the applications. This will show you which app eats up your battery.

2. Turn off iCloud keychain: Navigate to Settings/ iCloud/Keychain / turn it off.

3. Limit apps activity on the background: Navigate to Settings/ general/ Background App refresh/ turn it off for each application which uses to much power.

4. Disable auto brightness: Navigate to settings/ display and brightness/ auto-brightness. Turn this option off.

*** Apple?! We should not have to go through these hoops. I am really upset because 9.0.2 is a bug. Fix it already.

I've done everything suggested on multiple sites and nothing has resolved the problem. The suggested solutions are hopeful band-aids. I want a real solution. How about quality checking it before releasing it? How do we resurrect Steve Jobs from the land of the dead in order to avoid continual mishaps like this?

I noticed a massive drop in my battery power when I updated to 9.0.2. I thought it was just me, but evidently not. I wish Apple would address this issue. I also have tired all the "normal" fixes and nothing is working. I turned my phone off last night, like off off, with 34% of power and when I turned it back on in the morning it was at 17%! That has never happened to me before. I have tired everything to no avail.

This is stupid. Why should I get an update and then have problems and have to do all kinds of crap to fix it? Seriously. ***.

I Don't like the lower case Keys.

I Don't understand apple support pages are micro font and require scrolling left to right. On phone. All other sites adapt so things are readable. Unforgivable. ***?

I Want answers !

Even i have the same problem. Serious Battery Drain. My phone got switched off form 60% without any use in the whole night. This happend the after the update of ios 9.0.1 and updating to ios 9.0.2 doesn't help. Please fix this as soon as possible. I tried below options but no use

1. resetting the phone.

2. keeping the phone in aeroplane mode.

3. always on low power mode.

Nothing worked out.

My 5S has the same battery drain problem with IOS9. Additionally it showed that my Flashlight app was using all the power even though I had not used that app. I uninstalled the Flashlight app days ago but it's still showing the Flashlight app using power. Such BS. Apple doesn't even give you the choice to dismiss a particular update. If you choose "don't install now" it says "how about tonight?". Seems kind of pushy to me considering they hadn't done enough testing.

"The number of people experiencing this issue is not critical"

So I'm guessing the update worked fine on your phone...

Cheers

From your post it looks like you contacted Apple somehow about this? And received that response, The number of people experiencing this issue is not critical"?

If so, can you share how did you contact them please? Maybe if we all bombard them..... I have friends and relatives experiencing this power drain issue but they aren't participating in community forums and not contacting Apple.

Thanks,
