iphoto program on Mac Book quit showing iPhone to import camera roll after os 9 update

I know how to import photos, this is my third iPhone and have had my Mac-Book Pro for 5 yrs. After the os 9 update the iPhone does not show up in photos to import. It does appear in iTunes for sync. Can not find any troubleshooting on topic only how too. Could use some help. Could be a 9 issue? The second fix took care of Data issues, woohoo a good thing.
