Q: Is IOS 9 compatible with iPad 2?  After installing iOS 8 there was a tremendous lag in performance.  Does iOS 9 fix this?

MY question is in the header.  I have read that updates to os doesn't help for ALL products.  I have an iPad 2 which is sufficient for my needs but updates have caused lag issues so I was wonder if iOS 9 was worth updating to or not?

iOS 9 is supposed to be better optimized than previous versions of iOS.

None of the multitask features will be available to any older iPad models.

I have upgraded my own iPad 3, my Wife's iPad 2 and my new iPod Touch, all with, at least, 6-8 Gbs of available free storage space, and every device had a successful upgrade to iOS 9 with no issues.

Ideally, your iDevice should maintain a minimum free storage amount of 4- 6 GBs or greater on any iDevice, plus, more than 50% battery status to ensure proper operation, as well as, to ensure the possibility of a successful iOS upgrade/update installation.

In addition it is best to upgrade an iDevice connected up to computer running iTunes with you iDevice sync'd and backed up through iTunes rather than Over The Air (OTA) using a wireless WiFi connection.
