Oct 1, 2015 1:56 PM in response to mrsaxdeby norm123,Hello mrsaxde,
I understand that after you updated to OS X El Capitan that you are unable to send email from your Comcast account. Let's see if we can get that sorted out.
First I would start with looking at Connection Doctor to see why the messages are not being sent out after all the attempts of the password. It also could be that the ports for the outgoing server have changed and they need to be updated. You can look up the settings in the second article.

Oct 6, 2015 7:05 PM in response to mrsaxdeby Diane,This happened to me too. In Apple Mail, I kept getting popups asking me to supply the password for Comcast, which was rejected. The Apple Mail app would not connect to Comcast, but would work with other email accounts. I could log in to Comcast via webmail using the password that Apple Mail was rejecting.
Here's my solution - In the El Capitan System Preferences for Internet Accounts, if you select the Comcast account, there is a password field. It was blank. As soon as I entered the password there, Apple Mail sprang to life and started downloading.

Oct 12, 2015 7:49 AM in response to mrsaxdeby Swiss_Nic,I'm also stuck with my Mail.app after upgrading the MacBookPro to El Capitan. However I'm using IMAP not sure if this has any influence.
I also tried to delete and reconfigure the accounts with no joy. It always tells me that the Mail Password is not correct and I can neither receive nor send e-mails.
I then tried to use Outlook 2016 as I have a copy on the Apple as well. Here I was perfectly able to configure all the accounts and download all the IMAP posts. Any idea?

Oct 12, 2015 12:54 PM in response to mrsaxdeby mrsaxde,I solved my problem on my iMac by deleting and re-adding the account. Everything was fine after that. I just upgraded to El Capitan on my Macbook Pro yesterday, and did not have the same issue. I could send email just fine following the upgrade. Maybe Apple has tweaked something already?

Nov 6, 2015 8:04 AM in response to mrsaxdeby Bulldog Investigations,If you downloaded the El Capitan upgrade you may find that the outgoing mail (SMTP) no longer connects to your host's server. Genius Bar techs are under-experienced, but after 5 visits I got a good one:
1) upgrades do not bother to update their package to match servers of most of the hosting companies, so an upgrade can interfere with your email
2) removing the email account and replacing it (as most Genius Bar techs will do) does nothing to resolve the problem. When this fails the tech will usually tell you that you that they need to wipe your hard drive and reinstall the OS (idiots).
3) THE FIX: direct the tech to go into the library and delete the cache, all email settings. It took this good tech about 3 minutes to do this. Afterward, my email worked perfectly again.
