This question has been asked and answered several times on this forum if you would just do a search before you ask it yet again.

    Dear AmishCake,

In your response that a simple search would have provided an answer - in this case, it did not.

When I spoke with apple tech support today, they confirmed that

"this specific problem has not been reported before for iPhone 6s-Plus using iOS 9.02" based on their search of the apple site, checking with other tech(s) and Google search.

Might I politely suggest that if you are the forum moderator, perhaps you should consider adding additional keywords so that the prior answer(s) you refer to will come up in a Google or apple website search.

i hope the good intentions in this reply are well received.

I had the same problem on my iPhone 5 after the 9.0 update and powering phone off resolved the issue but it was becoming tiresome. Contrary  to other comments that was not a solution, it was at best a temporary and annoying fix.

i bought a 6S last week and had the same problem.

When I spoke to tech support Tuesday, Sep 29 they told me they'd never heard of this issue.

I updated to 9.1 later that day and have not had the problem since. Hope this helps.

Thank you VintageBeachgirl for taking the words right out of my mouth!  Did the 9.1 update have any other issues?  I had a very bad experience with the 9.0 update.  I lost all my data on my phone and had to go to recovery mode to even get it to work.  I am scared to update to 9.1!

Over the weekend, many people have reported on this problem. The fix is a phone reset, not just a power off and back on.

Hold down both the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time until the phone shuts off and the Apple logo shows up. Then release both buttons and allow the phone to reboot fully. Login and you'll be good to go. You won't loose anything, other than the silly grey bar with 0:00 in it.

So sorry you lost everything on your phone when you did the update Karen. I have empathy for you. I didn't loose anything, this time. However, after updating to 9.0.1, a ton of people are seeing problems with email attachments that won't download from servers, even if they were there before.

All updates bring a slew of new issues and requiring fixes. Apple works on fixing them as they become aware of them. They do not read the forums though. Try notifying them by calling, chatting, stopping in at a retail center, or going here: https://getsupport.apple.com/Issues.action

A Level 7 person in another thread said this:

    Go to Settings>Messages.

    Scroll down to the bottom.

In Audio Messages, turn off Raise to Listen.

I don't think anyone has ever sent me an audio text message, so I wasn't even aware this was an option.

Not sure if that works (I have a 5s iPhone), over doing the reset thing I posted in my first response, but ever since I did the reset, I've not seen it come back.

Sorry I did not reply earlier, I received an email yesterday with all of the new posts, I did not know there were any prior to that.

To answer your question; I did not have any negative experiences when downloading 9.1 or 9.2.

Sorry you had such a troubling experience when you updated to 9.0, I hope you had a good backup that enabled you to retrieve your data with no further issues.

I do need to report that the update to 9.1 did not permanently fix the message issue, again it was a temporary fix.

Updating to 9.2 has not made any difference either but I will have to say the problem is not as frequent as it was initially. This may be because initially I was with a large group of family members who text frequently and currently things are back to normal so that may be the reason I'm not seeing the issue more often.

I have since tried the solution schoodle suggested but it's a bit early to tell if it will help. Since I was aware of the 'raise to listen' message option and because  the screen blockage doesn't look like the voice text screen I'm skeptical that it will help.

I suppose I'll hang in until the next update and hopefully there'll be a permanent fix.
