OS X v 10.6 not loading on new hard drive

Installed new hard drive in 2007 17" Imac intel, than installed new installation disk for Snow Leopard whicH will not load.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

The formatting of the hard drive is essential with 10.6 installer disc's built-in Disk Utility before you install 10.6. You'll find it in the installer program's Utilities menu. See my user tip:
