So I was using Safari and a message popped up which didn't really seem like an ad, it seemed more serious cause it said that my Iphone was infected with a virus and that could threaten all of my personal data and that I needed to call Apple (there was also a number) immediately. Do I need to do something, do I have a virus or is it just a false pop up from a site?

In addition to the fine advise provided in the other replies, I would like add that under no circumstances should you call the number provided in the message. If you do they will steal your money and your personal data.
