Wireless keyboard keys hard press

Wondering about this keyboard issue :

I needed to press very hard for each key to type anything, Say, some dust has crept into it and so needed to clean, but to my surprise it works fine at login time of iMac while entering logon password, How is this possible ?

Its iMac Mid 2011 21.5 inch model and works perfectly fine apart from the above issue, Any help !!
