Q: El Capitan USB audio problems.

I just installed EL Capitan on my Late 2012 Mac mini. I have connected NuForce Udac2 DAC to usb port and it constantly disconnects from computer. I can't play any audio thru DAC. Tried changing midi settings, reseting Pram nothing changes. On windows PC dac is working without any problem. Everything worked OK in Yosemite.

There is obviously some problem with USB audio in EL Capitan.

DO NOT UPGRADE to EL Capitan if you have some USB audio cards important for work.

This problem came up in beta releases and still Apple did not fix it. This is a HUGE let down for me, especially considering how many people use Dacs or usb speakers these days.

I guess there is no difference between Apple and Microsoft these days. Everything that is released is not a finished product.

Guess I'll have to wait for 10.11.X for a fix...

Again, awful job Apple.

My USB audio issues have finally been fixed in the 10.11.4 Beta update of OS X. Everything is working as it should like it did in Yosemite. Who knows when they'll release it to the public, but it should be coming soon.

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately I just installed 10.11.4 beta and my Nuforce Icon DAC is still not recognized.

I did submit a bug report through the Feedback Assistant though. I'm still floored that they're up to their fourth update and still haven't sorted this out.

I installed the beta after seeing your post, unfortunately although my OSX is now recognizing my Audiobox USB ( which it was not before ), there is a massive signal interference/buzzing happening. This is now also happening with my other interface the (Centrance Micport Pro); where as in the prior version of OSX the signal and noise floor was clean :/

Im having the same issue, Im using a Pioneer DDJ SX MIDI controller as an audio interface with Ableton Live9, and I reluctantly updated to El Capitan and have had audio drop outs ever since. When using Ableton, everything is fine for and hour or two, then out of no where the audio drops out and I get a whole lot of static noise through the speakers. The same thing happens if I use the Midi controller for mixing a live set, after an hours or two audio drops out aand I just get noise back through the Monitors. HOW IS THIS NOT SORTED YET? This thread was started 6 Months ago!!!!!!

I am using Native Instruments Audio6 with latest El Capitan drivers but I am having sound distortion issues after playing 20-30min.

I am in contact with NI and they acknowledged that there is an issue with El Capitan and USB Audio devices.

They said Apple is working on a fix and they didn't take the issue on themselves.

I am trying every beta of El Capitan but still no luck.

Hope to get a solution soon since I am using this for live dj'ing and I had several instances of re-starting my computer in the middle of a gig.

I upgraded my 27 in. iMac from Mavericks to El Capitan after which I started having the usual documented issues with USB audio (Amarra feeding a Lindemann USB-DDC 24/192 into a Benchmark DAC1 USB). The audio would start playing but after a few seconds, I got distorted sound with a strange echo-like distortion (this also happened on a Macbook Air with El Capitan). After restarting core audio and making sure that the latest driver (from 2014) was up-to-date, I still had the issue. What finally worked was connecting the Lindemann to Linksys USB hub instead of directly into the computer on it's own dedicated port. I can only surmise that the hub is allowing the Lindemann to somehow connect in a different manner regarding the built-in USB drivers. Hope this is able to help someone - I was about to give up the Lindemann as lost and was not too happy with Apple.

I have a behringer x1204 usb mixer.  It disconnects at random times, usually after days of use.  This should not happen, ever, or close to never.  It should be as reliable as a USB keyboard.

I've had these issues with ZOOM G3X USB connection, since installing El Capitan. I've installed 10.11.4 Beta 5 yesterday and it seems that the issue is now gone.

Well I read this thread from beginning to end as my sound card Lexicon i-onix u42s stopped working with the upgrade. Dismayed I then turned to Lexicon support not hoping much since my device software no longer is updated. However I had a quick reply and a link to a driver software for El Capitan that works like a charm even with my old gadget. So if there are any more Lexicon users out there with the same problem, here's your fix: http://lexiconpro.com/en-US/softwares/lexicon-i-o-driver-v3-3-3-mac-osx-el-capit an

I also installed El Capitan 10.11.4 Beta 5 yesterday and tested about 3 hours and no issues so far.

I will be testing live this Friday and Saturday on a gig.

Thanks to all you beta testers!

Don't forget to make this a big deal so the fix will stick on the final release.

I tried on a live gig this Saturday and again I had the audio distortion

Seems like my issue is not resolved yet.
