After El Capitan install Java Command Line tool prompt won't go away

After installing El Capitan, yesterday, on my late 2008 MacBook Pro I got prompted with the following pop up. I have tried to go the OK route and by-pass, I also have tried to install going down the "More info..." route. Still every time I re-boot this comes up. Any way to get rid of this? I am not aware of having any need to install this in the first place, unless the system needs it for something.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

your link is not to an Apple version of Java. Its oracle again. same dumb problem.

That's odd. I just clicked on it and it takes me to Apple's website with a blue download button for Apple's version of Java (the button displays (and works) in Safari but not in Firefox or Opera). For those who need/want it, that webpage also includes but does not feature a link to Oracle's version in the next to last explanatory paragraph and makes clear it's Oracle's version.

...what does depreciated mean please?

In this case, it means it's been replaced by the newer version of Java from Oracle and removes the Apple version of the Java applet plug-in from webbrowsers (which is a good thing for security purposes), but there is something in the installation process which satisfies what Photoshop and other software is putting up that pop-up window asking for.

I've been getting this message too, and followed the More Info link. I installed that update which didn't help with that popup. I just installed the Apple Java version in the link above. Let's hope that works. However, I had already installed that version of Java in Yosemite (come to think of it, wasn't Mavericks the first one to deprecate Java 6 support?). Why do I have to reinstall something I had previously installed? Maybe the same reason I have to reactivate iCloud and change my desktop background back everytime I upgrade OS X!! How infuriating!
