CarPlay

Hello.

I am very interested in CarPlay. The option is avaiable on my iphone 6s under general but I am unsure how to set it up in my 2014 Cadillac ATS. How can I find out if my car supports CarPlay? If my car does not support it, are there any aftermarket devices, apps, etc that I can purchase to use it in my vehicle? My Cadilac does have the voice command option that is requested to click and hold from Settings,General, CarPlay. Thanks.

Cadillac and other GM cars will begin to support CarPlay with some of their 2016 models, so no your 2014 will not have it. There really is no comparable aftermarket car connection kit.

Unless Cadillac even can and if so, does offer an upgrade of some sort, the only way you will get CarPlay is to buy a new car that has the support for it. My 2015 Honda Accord also doesn't support it but the 2016s do. That was alright with me as it was not a compelling enough feature to cause me to bother waiting to buy a new car earlier this year. The problem most manufacturers face with previous models is usually the head unit cpu they used is insufficient to handle CarPlay, so retroactive firmware updates are not an option for most older cars.

A little pricy but looks like this company now has an aftermarket system that will allow you to use CarPlay on the 14 ATS. Looks like you would have to send them in your original Cue system even after you pay $1200 for a new one from them so doesnt really seem like its the best idea.
