Oct 1, 2015 3:42 PM in response to l3illieby Carolyn Samit,Unfortunately, your Mac must be running v10.8.5 or later and iTunes 12.3 or later to sync photos from your iPhone to your Mac, See if your Mac can bypass Mountain Lion and upgrade directly to v10.11 El Capitan.
iPhone 6 tech specs noted here.
El Captan requirements > OS X El Capitan System Requirements & Compatible Mac List
If your Mac meets the requirements, you can download El Capitan from the App Store for free. Then you can sync your photos.
El Capitan requires at the minimum 6.08 GB's of available disk space.
Very important to read this user tip prior to upgrading from Snow Leoaprd > Upgrading to 10.7 and above, don't forget Rosetta! | Apple Support Communities
