cannot download El Capitan - download is "waiting" and will not start

Quit MAS and try again. You might just have a poor connection.

What is MAS? I too having problem downloading and installing the new OS. It will not complete a download. This is the screenshot of my macbook air.

MAS = Mac App Store.

Tens of millions of users are all trying to download the update, so it's not unexpected that the servers might be overloaded. Trying again might get you a better spot in the waiting line.

I have tried overnight download and it was still doing the same thing in the morning. I have started and stopped twice. There are no errors on the screen.

finally found out what is going on with my install of El Capitan. Was poking around in my lanchpad and there it was the install icon for El Capitan. But with all the issues I have seen people are having I may wait a while.

I have the same question. It has been waiting for 12 hours. It will nt let me re download.

I have retried. Will not let me re download.

Same problem here. A previous attempt to download had failed. But now it's just the 'waiting' screen !!! Any means to download a set up file

Download any other app from the App Store - choose something free and small. That should "unblock" downloading and after that app is downloaded El Cap should start. Worked for me 🙂
