Oct 27, 2015 12:35 PM in response to Cafeineby barbussi,I guess it's a bug, I hope for a fix too.
(So annoying!)
Aliiien: thank you for your reply, I need to do a backup, then I'll try what you suggested. But if for cafeine didn't work I doubt it will work for me.
I already have the .safariextz, and they're exactly the files that don't work.

Oct 27, 2015 1:06 PM in response to barbussiby aliiien,I know I deleted more prefs than I listed the first time; I figured those [three I listed] were the ones that did the trick, but possibly wrongly. Went back through and found all Safari-relevant files that *could* be deleted without breaking things:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.safaridavclient
~/Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
~/Library/Synced Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
~/Library/Synced Preferences/com.apple.SafariServices.plist
And the three I listed previously:
~/Library//Preferences/com.apple.Safari.Extensions.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
~/Library/Safari/Extensions
If you want to try deleting (not just move to trash, but fully delete) all of those, that may reset enough of Safari for the extensions gallery to recognize the version number. At your own risk, etc etc etc., but that's what finally made it click on my end.
And again, back up everything first, just in case!
Either way, let's hope Apple gets this bug fixed asap.

Oct 27, 2015 4:04 PM in response to aliiienby Cafeine,I'm reinstalling from scratch for the 3rd time to check one last time if I can pinpoint the problem. Maybe it's just an OSX bug and then I'm ****** and will not use safari until a fix. And I **** hope it's not that, I love that browser. WITH THE RIGHT EXT. -_-

Oct 28, 2015 12:59 AM in response to Cafeineby barbussi,I admire your determination. Let me know if you find something useful.
I hope that the developers are aware about this problem and not only about the opposite one...

Oct 28, 2015 1:41 AM in response to Cafeineby barbussi,I suggest to not install 10.11.1 before trying to install any extensions.

Oct 28, 2015 7:46 AM in response to barbussiby Cafeine,SO, I managed to install everything (I started with that). I'm pretty sure that I accused Little Snitch a bit too fast : seems it's the icloud sync of the keychain that at the heart of the problem. If I terminate that icloud sync and delete the full keychain folder (the user one) it seems to work.
I have a dev friend @ apple and he made sure those 2 bugs are examined.
Can't thanks enough Carbon Copy Cloner in all this : the fact I had full backups of 2 old installs to reinstall / test / access my old files at all time was a lifesaver. But yep, the keychain needs some love for sure !!!

Oct 28, 2015 8:15 AM in response to Cafeineby barbussi,I'm glad that you have found a solution!
I'm not at home right now, so I will try to do this as soon as I am at home.
So: I have to uncheck, in the system preferences - iCloud - the keychain voice.
Then erase the keychain folder (aka: ~/Library/Keychains/)?

Oct 28, 2015 8:22 AM in response to barbussiby Cafeine,Yep ! Don't forget to uncheck the icloud / Keychain sync before or it will redownload the problematic keychain right away...

Oct 28, 2015 8:28 AM in response to Cafeineby David Yarema,I can confirm this. I solved the issue the same way after deleting files in the keychain Library folder and adding the old ones back in one at a time. Labor intensive but worth it to define the problem better. Unchecking iCloud services in Preferences made a huge difference but only after throwing out and replacing the keychain files. Make sure you back up the old files before you go through this process. The only downside about this solution for me was losing my saved passwords in Safari. Not really a big deal if you keep a secure backup of your password info. You must shut off or disable any anti-virus software extensions that monitor websites within the browser BEFORE you fix the keychain problem and the synching problem with iCloud services. All this occurred as a result of updating to the new operating system.

Oct 28, 2015 8:55 AM in response to David Yaremaby barbussi,Thank you for your replies,
A dumb question: I really need to restore my old (from a backup) keychain files?
Because It's not a problem to me writing the passwords again (one by one).

Oct 28, 2015 12:41 PM in response to Cafeineby barbussi,It didn't work... :/
Do I have to do something else?

Oct 28, 2015 6:37 PM in response to barbussiby Cafeine,Sadly I'm out of ideas.
I did reinstall everything from scratch but FYI, 3rd parties extension are not working again after syncing with icloud. So now I'll have to wait for a fix anyway or hope that some of the devs do a "store version" of their ext.
Yep, that's really lame. :/

Oct 29, 2015 10:25 PM in response to barbussiby BuddysGirl,Hello!
I just wanted to say after trying all day to add 3rd party extensions to Safari, like RoboForm, eBay, and Coupon.com Toolbar, I have finally figured it out!
I restarted my iMac in SAFE mode, and then I opened Safari, and tried again. This time it worked! I was able to install all the extensions I wanted.
I then restarted my iMac, and it is working!
Hope this works for everyone else!

Nov 7, 2015 10:35 AM in response to BuddysGirlby _fiery,The advise to restart in SAFE mode (holding Shift key while restarting) worked for me. Then restarted the machine and now extension is working fine. Thanks.
My problem was that I uninstalled certain extension and then tried to install it again from the same safariextz file (iGetterExtension.safariextz). Safari Extensions dialog appears, but when I click on the "Trust" button, nothing happens (no errors). I'm on 10.10.1 and Safari 9.0.1. The same extension installed just fine in previous El Capitan versions (including El Capitan Betas). Installation of the same safariextz file in SAFE mode works.
