how to disable startup apps?

When I turn on my computer first thing that pops up is messages then skype, viber, mail. How do I disable all so that nothing shows up when I turn on computer?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

Apple Logo  > System Preferences > Users and Groups > User Account > Login Items.

You will have to click the app you'd like to remove to highlight it and then click the [ - ] button. This will remove the app from your startup items.

Also, if the app you'd like not to open on login is in your dock, you can right click (control + click) on the app icon and under Options uncheck Open at Login.
