how to downgrade my iCloud subscription

I notice that is zero assistance from Apple on how to downgrade one's iCloud subscription.

I was forced to upgrade to an impractical 200Gb iCloud subscription, when Photos came about, as I did not want to spend my entire week deleting photographs.

Neither did I wish to lose access to any of them.

I cannot find any help or useful information anywhere on how to reduce this subscription or, indeed, whether the new prices launched last month will apply hereafter.

Can anybody else help me please, by doing Apple's work for them?

We are not encouraging a great business model here, I believe, allowing Apple automate the taking of our money, yet supplying sweet **** all in the way of support to reduce said expenditure.

I find their lack of information on this subject to be very cynical.

I don't understand how you were forced to choose the 200GB instead of the 50GB plan:

Sorry for the slow response.

When Photos started up, I had to purchase the larger iCloud package, as the system seems to require extra space to deal with the uploading of all my photos from all devices, BEFORE it can reduce them to the "one-version/no-duplicate" size. Maybe this was an early iCloud need? After about a week, iCloud had reduced the file size of my collection to a more moderate (and real) file size. After that I could reduce my iCloud requirement, but I found it very difficult to find the information on how to reduce the iCloud subscription, as I expected to find it in iTunes, or the App store.

I did eventually locate it in System Preferences, which is the last place I expected to do business with Apple.
