When iTunes freezes, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES All Messages

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

View Show Log List

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.

Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.

Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Take a look under the apple logo in the corner at about this mac .. check if your serial number is in there or

if it says unavailable, the technicians on the support line are very helpful but have had to go off and have a

meeting later today as they do not know why my serial number has disappeared.. very frustrating!!

I'm having a cascade of problems with iTunes 12.3 (iMac 27" late 2009, OS X El Capitan 10.11). This morning I find that iTunes has duplicated all my playlists, which has happened before with version 12.0 and/or 12.1. The duplicate playlists have greyed out songs in them, though. Today iTunes is unresponsive. It's frozen, with the iCloud icon upper right shows a flash sign. And yet I can still play songs through the Remote app on my iPhone. The last message, in particular, about iTunes being 'caught burning CPU!', sounds ominous. I'm not taking it literally, but it does some seem that something's fundamentally wrong.

Console has the following messages, which I've seen before. Right after restarting iTunes I got the message:

22-10-15 08:31:00,262 iTunes[9972]: GVA warning: failed to get a service for display id: 4128828

This message is repeated voor id's 4128829, 4128830, 4128831.

After that I got:

22-10-15 08:31:43,112 iTunes[9972]: ApplePushService: APSConnection being used without a delegate queue

And:

22-10-15 08:32:05,940 com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.xpc.launchd.domain.pid.MediaLibraryService.9974) Path not allowed in target domain: type = pid, path = /Library/Frameworks/iTunesLibrary.framework/Versions/A/XPCServices/com.apple.iT unesLibraryService.xpc error = 147: The specified service did not ship in the requestor's bundle, origin = /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaLibrary.framework/Versions/A/XPCServices/com.ap ple.MediaLibraryService.xpc

22-10-15 08:32:05,942 com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.xpc.launchd.domain.pid.MediaLibraryService.9974) Path not allowed in target domain: type = pid, path = /Library/Frameworks/iTunesLibrary.framework/Versions/A/XPCServices/com.apple.iT unesLibraryService.xpc error = 147: The specified service did not ship in the requestor's bundle, origin = /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaLibrary.framework/Versions/A/XPCServices/com.ap ple.MediaLibraryService.xpc

Then I got:

22-10-15 08:32:34,103 iTunes[9972]: Could not find image named 'NSImage'.

22-10-15 08:42:42,000 kernel[0]: process iTunes[9972] thread 3592340 caught burning CPU!; EXC_RESOURCE supressed due to audio playback

I'm completely at a loss, here, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
