Hello. My I pad is blocked. I cannot open it or close it. The touch screen no longer responds. What can I do?

i have an I pad , 16 go, bought new in 2012. A real gem.

as of tonite I can no longer operate it, the touch screen is not responsive

i cannot open it, or close it, or access any information.

it is on, I see my screen with a picture, it says there is still 39% battery,

but I cannot do any thing. It was not moved , or dropped

a real mystery.

what is an Apple fan to do?
