El Capitan update paused and won't download

AApple support themselves set up download on E LCapitain on my pic but it keeps pausing I am on 4hrs out of6hrs and it will pause in a min Hard work,don,t even know if it will work but Apple support have been brilliant 5 STARS.

I would just restart, Sign out and then sign back in. If that doesn't work, hover you're mouse over the path of the download on the purchased list and it should give you the option to hide. Click account on the right side, sign in, manage/hide/unhide purchases. One of those should work

Open the Launch Pad and see if you can Resume the download from there.

Anti virus softare, web accelerators, and net monitoring apps such as Little Snitch can prevent data from downloading from a server.

If you paused the download, then click on the Paused button. Otherwise, go to your Purchases page in the App Store and re-download El Capitan.

OK, I had the similar problem, the download paused. But the buttons for un-pausing did not exist either on apps store or launchpad, to re-enable download:

Open AppStore and from Store Menu click / Check for unfinished downloads. This made the greyed out buttons reappear and I could un-pause it.

In the App Store, going to the top bar and clicking "Store" and then "Reload Page" solved this issue for me.
