Oct 2, 2015 1:56 PM in response to Animaniac151by rkaufmann87,You somehow downloaded Genio and it needs to be removed. DO NOT install any antivirus, cleaning, or other third party maintenance utilities!

Oct 2, 2015 4:03 PM in response to Animaniac151by John Galt,I would not necessarily trust anything reported by "Trend Micro" or any similar utility.
If the instructions in the link provided by rkaufmann87 do not reveal the presence of Genieo, then your Mac is not affected by it and the report should be ignored. Refer to the instructions under Remove Genieo, InstallMac: "If you don't see either process, Genieo or InstallMac is probably not installed on your Mac."
Pay attention to the several easily overlooked passages directing you to restart your Mac when required.

Oct 2, 2015 5:41 PM in response to Animaniac151by Linc Davis,That's a built-in component of OS X.
Remove the utterly worthless Trend Micro product by following the instructions on this page. Restart. If the program was incompletely removed, reinstall it and start over.
Back up all data before making any changes. Never install any "anti-virus" or "anti-malware" product again.

Jul 30, 2016 2:52 AM in response to Animaniac151by ireneshe,I need help too! My MRT app infected with Eleanor troyan virus. I get often pop-up windows, which are sort of fishing mail, and the only way I can get rid them is to restart the computer. I can not remove MRT file because my computer would not let me to. What should I do?
