remove photos from desktop

My wife accidently copied all her photos to her desktop. How can i remove them from the desktop without deleting the actual photos?

When you say desktop, do you mean they are now residing in the folder called Desktop in the home folder of your wife's account?

If they are there, and you go back to iPhoto or Photos and click on one of the photos there, and use the program's reveal in Finder option, is the original somewhere other than the Desktop folder?

Or where were the photos copied from and to?
