Q: How to stop Filevault Encryption in El Capitan

Hello all,

I am using a 2011 mac book pro. I have updated El Capitan by Oct 1. since then I'm facing a lot of  issues. The apps stop responding, I am not able to force quit  the apps.the entire system freezes and only the mouse  pointer works and that too i get the volleyball of doom. Even finder requests re-launch after some time. Its really frustrating. Every time I have to force shut down the system by holding the power  button. I have tried NVRAM reset and SMC reset but nothing seems to bring it back to a normal processing speed. I decided to re-install the OS in recovery mode, but File Vault Encryption progress is  going on and its not  allowing me to proceed with the process. I started this  fileVault when I updated the Os but the system started to hang before it could be completed. Now  the fileVault shows Encryption paused and I am not able to start it again.

Now I am not able to change the disk permissions in recovery  mode as El Capitan does not allow you  to do it. Is there any other way to recover the OS or revert to Yosemite ?

Note: I have changed my entire motherboard and HDD just 2 months ago in an authorised apple service centre(so sadly there is no time machine update). So I guess the age thing should not be the issue.

Please help me out!!

    - Do you have a bootable clone or bootable installer for a previous version of OSX?

If so boot from that and format the internal drive and and either clone back to intern drive or install OSX fresh on the internal drive.

    - If you updated the EFI firmware for Internet Recovery

Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery - Apple Support

try to force your Mac to boot into Internet Recovery by holding down Command+Option+R at startup. Then format internal drive and install the OSX version offered.

    - If you have another Mac yo can download Yosemite for the Purchased section of the Mac App Store and the make a bootable USB install media using

    DiskMaker X

and then boot from that and format the internal drive and install
