Q: iPhone pictures not showing up in Photos

Typically when i plug my phone into my Macbook Pro and open up Photos when i click my phone it shows all the pictures currently on my phone in the camera roll. It gives me the options to select which pictures i want to import then i can import them. Im plugging my phone into my computer for the first time both since i upgraded to the 6s and since i updated my computer to El Capitan. When i plug it in and open up Photos now, if i click on my phone it shows no pictures at all able to import. Help?!

Not sure what I did, but after a restart, it started to prompt me to grant access to the computer.

I granted access and it now shows the photos.

One possibility is I probably opened Xcode and agreed to its terms and conditions, and verified it detect my device in the organizer before restarting?

    Well nope.

The restart only worked when Photos app was opened before restart.

The second time I switch on my mac it's not detecting the images again. Irritating.

Same here. I ended up updating my iPhone to the latest version of iOS and then the photos showed up. But my wife's iPhone still will not show photos when connected. Has anyone figured this out?

    Ditto...

iPhone 6 with latest iOS 9.1. Just upgraded iMac to El Capitan. Suddenly there are no pictures showing in Photos when I connect the phone to the computer. I don't use the cloud because of the data storage and data transfer issues. I simply want to download the pics to my computer via a cable. Obviously can't do that if the computer can't see them....

I have yet to get mine to work. However, I found a work-around.

Be sure both your computer and your phone are on the same wifi network. Then do an AirDrop of the pictures to your computer. They will show up in the download folder. Import them into Photos.

Not the best solution, but workable for the moment.

I have tried everything to get this to work.  I have a new Macbook Pro - if I plug in my updated iPhone 6  - the pictures show up and I'm able to import.   However on my iMac (updated to El Capitan with all the new updates as well) the phone shows up but there are no pictures to import showing.  I tried airdrop as well but my iMac does not recognize the phone for some reason.  So there is no way to get my photos onto my computer without actually emailing which is just plain STUPID  Help.

same problem here with a Late 2008 macbook pro, updated to El Capitan some weeks ago. iPhone (iOS 9.x) photos do not show up in "Photos" App but also not in iPhoto (which starts now again... but other story)...

I've used my personal cloud storage (Western Digital myCloud NAS) to save the pictures and then to import in Photos... this is a lousy workaround. Need a solution.

Sorry to hear I'm not the only one having this issue. No problem when I connect my 5s - PHOTOS opens and shows all the pics to import. With the iPhone 6s, PHOTOS opens, goes to import and... blank. Same as being reported above.

iTunes opens and syncs correctly so I was clueless. I do have a workaround!

    Go to SETTINGS-->GENERAL-->RESET

Select "Reset Location & Privacy" and follow the prompt.

Unplug the phone cable, replug and tell the iPhone you want to trust the computer.

Photos has opened to import with all the pictures showing each time.

Great but it resets all the location and privacy settings for each time you want to import which can get annoying.

So to be clear.. when you unplug and replug the problem is back. Every time you want to import you'll have to reset the settings.

I can't tell if it is a problem with the phone, security software on my mac or what? For some reason the phone won't remember it trusted my mac at least as far as Photos is concerned.

thanks Macabilly   - that did work second try.   It also fixed a new issue - I'm in California and my phone kept thinking I was in Denver after the time change last night.  So that reset fixed that.

Still need Apple to step up and fix this issue - you're right.  Shouldn't have to do this every time.

    Thanks!

I had the same issue after upgrading to El Capitan. Pictures on my iPhone were not showing up in Photos or Image Capture, when I connected the phone to my iMac.

Janel, from AppleCare Tech Support, diagnosed it as a conflict with DropBox. Quitting DropBox solved the problem.

    BINGO!!!

I quit DropBox, reconnected by phone, and all works as advertised.

Not sure why, but this worked.  Quit Dropbox, reconnected iPhone and pictures immediately showed up in Photos.
