Q: iPhone pictures not showing up in Photos

Typically when i plug my phone into my Macbook Pro and open up Photos when i click my phone it shows all the pictures currently on my phone in the camera roll. It gives me the options to select which pictures i want to import then i can import them. Im plugging my phone into my computer for the first time both since i upgraded to the 6s and since i updated my computer to El Capitan. When i plug it in and open up Photos now, if i click on my phone it shows no pictures at all able to import. Help?!

Thanks, uspercussion!  Quitting Dropbox and then reconnecting iPhone worked!

Unfortunately that didn't work for me. When I first upgraded to El Capitan photos from my own iPhone showed up in Photos just fine. Today Photos cannot see any iPhone, even with DropBox quit. This is running OS X 10.11.2 and reconnecting the phones and restarting Photos in any order. Very frustrating.

However, rebooting the computer seems to have done the trick (even with DropBox running). We'll see how long that lasts.

So far no luck for me. Using OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 and an old iPhone 4S that has never given me any trouble. Pictures taken this last week show up in Photos when I plug into the computer, but anything from October thru December (last time I uploaded was October) does not. I tried resetting Privacy on my phone, restarting the computer, quitting Dropbox, unplugging and replugging, all various times in various orders, but nothing changed. Still can't do it. Unfortunately, AirDrop isn't on iPhone 4S, so I finally resorted to setting up Messages on my computer and texting the pictures to myself (which wouldn't be so tedious if I didn't have to search for, select, and load each picture individually). This is ridiculous, please figure out what is wrong Apple!

I had the same problem and fixed it this way

    1. Go into Photo or turn it on

    2. Click on Photo, click on the 'Preference' submenu

    3. Brings up the 'General' window

    4. Click on 'Show in Finder' button

    5. Click on 'Use as system photo library'

    Done ....

I had the same issue after upgrading to El Capitan. Pictures on my iPhone were not showing up in Photos or Image Capture, when I connected the phone to my iMac.

Janel, from AppleCare Tech Support, diagnosed it as a conflict with DropBox. Quitting DropBox solved the problem.

If Dropbox has been interfering by snatching the photos, check your Dropbox Preferences.

This setting is probably the culprit:  Dropbox > Preferences > Photos > Enable Camera Uploads for  ...

Make sure it is disabled. Then you should be able to keep Dropbox running.

You open the Dropbox preferences from the Dropbox menulette in the main menu bar: In the dropdown panel click the gears icon in the lower left corner.
