Q: Calendar Error: "Your calendar Couldn't be refreshed."

Hi guys!

 

After I updated my MBP to OS X El Capitan version 10.11 every time I open the Calendar it doesn't sync with iCloud and displays an attention triangle in the iCloud tab. When pressed it opens an windows saying:

 

Your calendar Couldn't be refreshed.

The request for account "iCloud" failed.

Does anyone know how can I fix this?

'Cause of it I didn't update my iMac 5K yet, afraid the same happens.

 

I really hope someone can help me out in this matter, the Calendar is one of my essential everyday tools.

Please sign out of iCloud in its preference pane. No data will be removed from the servers, and you can retrieve it by signing back in. That said, you should always have a current archive of the data for safety's sake, even if you don't sign out.

If you use iCloud Keychain, when you sign back in to iCloud follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set it up on an additional device.

    Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.

    Step 1

    From the Calendar menu bar, select

              Calendar â–¹ Preferences... â–¹ Accounts

    Choose the affected account from the list on the left and uncheck the box marked

              Enable this account

    Then check the box again. Test.

    Step 2

    Make a note of the account settings, then delete the account and add it back with the same settings.

    Step 3

    If you can't add the account, the settings may be invalid. Verify them. How you do that depends on what kind of account it is. If it's a Google calendar and you've activated 2-step verification, you need to generate an application-specific password in your Google account and enter it in place of your old password.

    Step 4

    Quit Calendar. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:   \

    ~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache

    Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

              Services â–¹ Reveal

    from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a file named "Calendar Cache" selected.

    Move the selected file to the Trash. There may be one or two other files in the same folder with names that begin in "Calendar Cache". If so, delete those files too.

    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select

              Go â–¹ Go to Folder...

    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You may not see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

    Thanks for the reply.

     

    I did all the steps exactly and it didn't worked.

     

    In Step 4 I eliminated the files and when I opened Calendar the iCloud setting was gone. I them promptly selected Calendar > Add Account selected iCloud and after that nothing!... iCloud calendar does not even appear on the left sidebar.

     

    Do you have any other suggestion?

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

    The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

              SYSTEM LOG QUERIES â–¹ All Messages

    from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

              View â–¹ Show Log List

    from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

    Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take the action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

    The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

    Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

    Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

    Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

    I have a Mav Mini Intel Core i5 2.3 GHz and am running OS X 10.11.1 (15B42). I have a similar problem with my Calendar app. Everything works with iCloud i.e. Mail, notes, contacts, numbers , pages, photos, etc. except Calendar and Reminders. I followed all the steps in your Oct. 2, 2015 post "Re: Calendar Error: "Your calendar Couldn't be refreshed."in response to x_marksthespot_x". But it still doesn't work.
