Installed El Captain yesterday. Today I had an issue with Apple mail to start up. Now I am not able to quit mail. I cannot shut off the computer properly unless I quit mail. Hope Apple will fix these issues I am seeing. What is an alternative way to quit mail?
You can force Quit any app

I would try reinstalling the OS on top of what you have. All user files should remain untouched. There is no stand alone Mail.app installer.
Always a good idea to have a current back-up plan.

Thank you. After I forced close mail, I opened it up again and now able to close it the regular way. I hope this corrected all the problems. Is it necessary to reinstall the OS? If so how? I need a guide on how to do this. I do an external backup so I am sure I have it on there. But what do I look for and where? Can you help on this?
