Airdrop with Mac and Iphone

Hello

Can someone tell me, why Airdrop is not working in this combination:

Macmini connected with LAN to the Homenet

Iphone 5s connected with WLAN

Both are connected to the same Router and have a activated Bluetooth

I always try to find one device, but it appears adventitious (only when i activated also the Wlan on my Mac) In this case i have sometimes a LAN or a WLAN connection with the MAC... i dont think that this makes sense.

For my understanding, a Bluetooth connection should be more than enough

The idea is OK, but the soloution is silly...

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Because the Mac is running Mavericks. This functionality requires Yosemite or El Capitan and a 2012 or newer Mac.

No my mini runs yosimite bevore and now el capitan. And it is a late 2012

but what i like to suggest to the developers.... Make it work only with a Bluetooth connect. So you can use it anywhere not only at home

Airdrop only works if the devices are in close enough proximity to link-up via Bluetooth.
